If you've visited CrossFit Augusta you probably know who Tracy is. She's a regular at CFA and she always introduces herself to new people when they come in. Like many members, Tracy remembers how intimidating CrossFit can be when you're first starting out, and she wants people to experience the positive life changes that she has seen with it.
Tracy started with CrossFit Augusta in June 2013, and was looking for something different. She had tried the traditional gyms - spending a little time on the treadmill and then wandering around trying to figure out what to do with the machines.
Tracy has never thought of herself as athletically inclined, but she has accomplished some cool things in her time doing CrossFit. She is especially proud of her pull-ups. "When I started I literally had to use the biggest, thickest band to get even one. I don't think I have ever seen anyone else have to use that band! Ever! Now I cannot only do strict pull-ups but I can also do weighted pull-ups with a 10 pound weight!" She's also proud of her dips, and is able to do them with an additional 15 pound weight.
Her favorite things about CrossFit Augusta? "I love long workouts with my friends! I love to 'hate' a workout during it and how great I feel afterwards!" Tracy also feels much more confident in herself since starting CrossFit. "My job as an X-Ray/CT Technologist is very physical and I have to move patients who either cannot or will not move themselves. CrossFit has given me the confidence and ability to do my job better."
Tracy also has some advice for those thinking about getting started: "DO IT! You don't have to be in shape to start. Just start CrossFit, be consistent with coming to class, and watch how your body, attitude, and confidence will change!"
